Southern Solar, LLC Bankruptcy
On September 11, 2025, Southern Solar, LLC filed for bankruptcy. According to the voluntary petition filed by Southern Solar, Southern Solar is seeking relief under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code, which means they are attempting to liquidate their remaining assets and discharge all pending claims against them.
Notably, Southern Solar has listed over 3,000 creditors, most of whom are former customers, and Southern Solar claims it owes $6,147,366.41 to these unsecured creditors. Despite claiming it owes over $6 million to thousands of its former customers, Southern Solar claims it only has $124,043.52 in assets.
Southern Solar claims it has $6,463.84 in its bank accounts, $1,000 in inventory (solar panel equipment), and a $116,404.69 bond used to appeal a fraud judgment entered against Southern Solar.
On October 15, 2025, the creditor’s meeting for Southern Solar’s Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding was held via Zoom.
During the hearing, the trustee assigned to Southern Solar’s bankruptcy asked questions related to when Southern Solar ceased operations. Southern Solar’s corporate representative, Ledio Shehi, testified under oath that Southern Solar stopped working in August of 2024 because of “bad leads” and increased interest rates leading to a decrease in sales.
A former Southern Solar customer named Michael Munoz, now “creditor,” stated that Mr. Shehi was at Mr. Munoz’s home attempting to sell Mr. Munoz solar panels earlier this year in June – despite sworn testimony by Mr. Shehi that Southern Solar was ceasing operations in August of last year.
One topic of interest concerned the purported owners of Southern Solar. At the creditor’s meeting, Mr. Shehi testified that he owned 25% of the company, Blake Bastian owned 25% of the company, and “Solatrue” owned 50%. When asked who owned Solatrue, Southern Solar’s lawyer answered instead of Mr. Shehi, claiming “many, many people” own Solatrue.
While the Chapter 7 proceeding is still early, there are already signs of apparent inconsistencies concerning the reason(s) Southern Solar declared bankruptcy. The next phase of this bankruptcy proceeding will attempt to determine what remaining assets Southern Solar may have.
Arnell Law, PLLC has requested a copy of the audio recording for the creditor’s meeting and will publish that information as soon as we obtain it.
